Still haven't had to fill up yet. My trip that was scheduled for this week was canceled. Next week I will definitely be going out of town and will be able to post some results.
I can tell you I have driven 150 miles and am not yet at the half-tank mark. At my baseline fill-up I had traveled 267 miles on a whole tank of gas! Definitely making some progress here. (You may be wondering how I can drive only 150 miles in 3 weeks. I will post this weekend about hypermiling by NOT driving. Those miles don't count in your MPG, but your miles saved DEFINITELY help the bottom line of your monthly gas budget!)
I think I have gotten better at anticipating traffic and knowing when to use certain techniques (like turning off the engine at red lights). I am learning which lights are long enough that this works.
I still sometimes notice other drivers who get irritated. One honked behind me the other day because I had taken my foot off the accelerator when there was a red light ahead (about a block away). I shrugged my shoulders (visibly for the other driver to see), pointed ahead and said "I can't go anywhere anyway." The driver didn't hear me, of course, but I think he might have figured it out when I spend up to road speed as soon as the light turned green (I didn't have to stop, and neither did the other driver.) I hope eventually more drivers understand what I am trying to do, or at least why I seem to be driving too slow (in their opinion).
