In case anyone is looking for a way to make extra money through their website--or at least get their own sustainable hosting for free by referring a few other green hosting customers, I have listed below the sustainable web hosting companies from my previous list that have affiliate programs.
Affiliate programs (for those who may not know the term) are basically programs that pay you a commission on sales for any new customers you send the company. All of the affiliate programs in this list are free to join. Some pay a one-time commission, while others continue to pay you for as long as the customers you refer continue to host their website. Two of them will even pay you for two tiers, meaning if Sally refers Johnny and Johnny refers Suzy, then Sally gets paid when Suzy signs up too.
I have listed all of the green web hosts that have affiliate programs below (in order of the best-paying programs), with details listed for each. (NOTE: Programs which pay residual income will usually pay less initially than the programs listed below them. Earning potential will of course depend on how long the customers continue to host their website. They are listed above some programs that pay once due to their potential future income.)
www.ThinkHost.com $100 payout for each new referral who signs up for any hosting plan level. 2nd tier commissions which range from $15-$65, depending on how many accounts are referred per month. Purchases are credited and commissions paid if a customer returns within 10 years (tracked by cookie and IP address).
www.DreamHost.com $97 for each new referral plus $5 for each 2nd tier referral (sent by those you refer). Can create custom coupon codes (discounts and extra features offered are deducted from your $97 commission). Alternate commission structure with residual payments also available: 10% of every payment your referrals make and 5% of 2nd tier referrals for as long as they continue to host with DreamHost.
www.SustainableWebsites.com 20% commission for all payments made by referrals as long as they continue their hosting package.
www.SolarEnergyHost.com 15% of all revenue generated as long as the customer continues their hosting plan (Link on right side)
www.GoGreenHosting.com 50% of revenue for each new account (does not appear to be residual income) (Link on top menu)
www.HostPapa.com (Link at bottom of page) $60 for all new customers
www.aiso.net $15 commission if order made within 6 months of first visit.
www.GreenestHost.com ("Partner Program" listed on website, but was informed when I inquired that they are not currently running one. It is something they are looking at for the future but not the "immediate future." I am including it here to help avoid confusion.)
